RestComm Media Server 7.0 Released!

20 Nov RestComm Media Server 7.0 Released!

RestComm Media Server 7.0

TeleStax proudly announces that RestComm Media Server 7.0 is available on GitHub!

What’s new on RestComm Media Server?

OPUS Codec

Most noteworthy, RestComm Media Server 7.0 brings support to OPUS codec! Opus distinguishes itself from most high quality formats by having low delay. It also supports high audio quality, thus distinguishing itself from low delay formats.

In sum, Opus meets or exceeds existing codecs’ quality across a wide range of bitrates and it operates at lower delay than virtually any existing compressed format.

Automatic Speech Recognition

Equally relevant, RestComm Media Server 7.0 offers a powerful API for Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) to convert speech to text in real time. Users can easily plug-in lightweight drivers to enable their preferred ASR providers. Furthermore, users can also choose the active ASR driver during runtime on a per-call basis according to user’s own criteria.

Restcomm community members can hereby contribute with ASR drivers for different providers. The ASR Driver API is very simple to implement and the RestComm team is happy to support you!

Asynchronous I/O powered by Netty

RestComm Media Server 7.0 also exposes a brand new asynchronous Network API powered by Netty! The new framework helps achieve better throughput with lower latency and reduces resource consumption.

PCAP Framework

Last but not least, RestComm Media Server 7.0 features a new PCAP Playback framework! Captured traffic from real world scenarios can be fed to the PCAP framework, allowing users to analyse media quality or study call setup flows.

The entire change log for RestComm Media Server 7.0 can be found here.
