RestComm Media Server 5.1.0 Released!
TeleStax is pleased to announce that RestComm Media Server 5.1.0 has been released on GitHub!
RestComm Media Server 5.1.0 offers several improvements in terms of stability and performance.
This release introduces support for ECDSA cipher for DTLS. ECDSA helps speed up the DTLS handshake process while offering greater safety. This is required as browsers move on to make ECDSA mandatory. Read more about it here.
This version also features a brand new caching mechanism. By caching frequently played audio tracks we guarantee great savings in network activity as well as faster access to audio files.
The following picture shows a load test that plays the same subset of audio tracks with cache turned off. In this case, the Media Server will need to open one socket to fetch the file for each call, increasing the network traffic load.
But by caching these frequently played audio files, the Media Server only requires to open a socket when reading a file for the first time. This hugely decreases the number of open sockets during the test run as well as the traffic in the network.
Also, a single Media Server node is now able to communicate with several call agents within the local network. This feature is a must have for setting up high availability clusters.
